    Description

LS-ISO5658-2 IMO Flame Spread Test Apparatus is engineered in compliance with ISO 5658-2:2006, IMO FTP Code Resolution A.653(16), and ASTM E1317:2019 standards. This apparatus evaluates lateral flame propagation properties of building products to determine flame spread rate and fire retardant performance. The system utilizes a gas radiant plate for sample heating with integrated heat flow meter calibration. Test specimens are positioned vertically adjacent to the radiation plate, exposed to calibrated radiant flux in a controlled environment. A pilot flame ignites the sample surface without direct contact, initiating combustion. The apparatus records flame front progression horizontally across the sample surface, measuring combustion distance versus elapsed time. Additional parameters include ignition heat, sustained combustion heat, critical heat flux, average sustained burn calories, and total heat release.

    Compliance Standards:

    • ISO 5658-2:2006: Reaction to fire tests – Flame spread – Part 2: Lateral spread on building products in vertical configuration
    • IMO FTP Code Resolution A.653(16): Test procedures for fire protection of bulkhead, ceiling, and deck materials
    • ASTM E1317:2019: Standard Test Method for Flammability of Marine Surface Finishes
    • ASTM E1321:2018: Standard Test Method for Determining Material Ignition and Flame Spread Properties

    Technical Specifications:
