Description
This IEC 60906-1 Figure 4 retention gauge is engineered for compliance verification of socket-contact assembly retention performance in accordance with Point 7 of Standard Sheets 1-1, 3-1, and 3-2 under the IEC 60906-1 standard. Specifically designed for 16A 250V AC household and similar purpose plugs and socket-outlets, this precision instrument ensures reliable electrical contact retention through standardized mechanical testing procedures.
Technical Specifications:
- Applicable Standard: IEC 60906-1 (household and similar plugs and socket-outlets 16A 250V AC)
- Gauge C1 Dimensions: 4.44 mm (tolerance: +0.05 mm, -0 mm)
- Gauge C2 Dimensions: 4.56 mm (tolerance: +0 mm, -0.05 mm)
- Gauge C1 Mass: 200 g (tolerance: +5 g)
- Gauge C2 Mass: 400 g (tolerance: ±5 g)
- Maximum Radius (R): 0.2 mm
- Radius Specification: R = A/2 (where A represents the respective gauge dimension)
Standardized Test Procedure:
- Ensure socket-outlet shutters are maintained in the open position prior to test initiation.
- Thoroughly clean all gauge surfaces to eliminate grease contamination.
- Insert Gauge C2 into the socket-contact assembly by applying a maximum perpendicular force of 50 N to the socket-outlet engagement face.
- Position the socket-outlet in its worst-case orientation and verify Gauge C2 does not disengage under gravitational force.
- Insert Gauge C1 into the socket-contact assembly following the same procedure.
- Reorient the socket-outlet to its worst-case position and confirm Gauge C1 maintains retention under gravitational load.
Primary Applications:
- Quality assurance testing of 16A 250V AC household socket-outlets for compliance with IEC 60906-1 requirements
- Verification of socket-contact assembly retention performance per IEC 60906-1 Standard Sheets 1-1, 3-1, and 3-2
- Conformance testing for manufacturers producing household and similar purpose electrical connection devices
- Quality control implementation in electrical equipment manufacturing facilities
- Compliance auditing and certification testing for international electrical safety standards
